![]() The circle on the chart depicts the approximate maximum range of a fast whale-watching vessel out of Victoria (55 miles / 90Km's). The light blue dots indicate the relative frequency of Orca (Killer Whale) sightings at particular locations during the summer months. Because the whales feed off the west coast side of San Jaun Island most of the time, Victoria is the logical stepping-off point onto this Orca "Super-Highway" where the whales feed on salmon returning to the rivers to spawn each summer. |
